Fashion & Flat Whites: Liv Singh
Liv loves taking her mum’s old saris and using the fabrics to turn them into new saris. How gorgeous is this look!?
How would you describe your style?
My style is a happy mix of color, class, and glam! All whilst being comfortable!
How long have you been interested in fashion, and what inspired your interest?
I’ve always been interested in fashion. Growing up in an Indian household surrounded by beautiful saris, I loved wrapping myself in these fabrics pretending to be the most glamorous person around!
Can you tell us about your journey to body confidence?
Again, growing up as a brown girl wasn’t the easiest in school. I would do everything to make sure I somewhat felt like I fit in.
It was only around year 12 that I slowly started embracing my culture by making a Lehnga (traditional blouse / skirt outfit) in Textiles. Since then, I’ve been enjoying learning everything about my culture, including the history of fashion and textiles. It’s been a great shift from wanting to fit in with everyone else to really embracing and loving my own history. And I’m happier for it.

How did you find out about Mys Tyler?
Through another stylist I follow on Instagram! She had tagged Mys Tyler in a workshop she hosted, so I got curious….and here I am now!
How has using Mys Tyler impacted you?
I love the app! Instagram is such a pain sometimes, but Mys Tyler really makes it so much easier to connect with like minded people and talk all things fashion. I love that it’s so relatable.

What's your favorite fashion hack?
I love outfits that are easy to put together. So for me, investing in dresses is the key. I find it’s so easy to dress them up or down. Wear them as is for warmer days and paired with boots and leggings for the cooler weather. Can’t go wrong!
What's the perfect formula for a feel-good outfit?
Personal preference, but for me it’s a flowy dress with patterns and colors. Colors make me happy, so you’ll rarely find me in black (only when everything else is in the wash!). As I’m generally running around all over the place, I prefer to wear sandals rather than heels.
What do you hope the future of fashion will look like?
I hope people learn to embrace whatever makes them happy and not focus so much on trends. More often than not, the latest trends don’t suit me, so I have become content with knowing my body and what works and don’t ever buy into the trends. I hope everyone can learn this for themselves and understand what (and why!) some things work and others don’t. There is so much freedom to be gained when you just dress for your own happiness!
